Video of Temu’s Disney-Themed Sock Family Order Goes Viral: ‘No, It’s Mimnee’

At least laughing is good for you.

A couple were left in stitches after receiving a pair of funny Disney socks from Temu.

Emilie Fernstrom had ordered her family what she thought were cute pairs of Disney-themed socks with the faces of some of the brand’s iconic characters stitched on the side ahead of their vacation at the theme park, her husband, John, shared in a clip TikTok viral. .

The cheap-o socks from the Chinese e-commerce giant initially looked normal when she first opened them and saw the faces of the characters on the toe of the socks.

But in the end, the couple were shocked to find hilarious mistakes in their names.

“We have Chip, he’s so cute isn’t he?” said John Fernstrom, pointing to the smiling chipmunk sewn into the stocking. “But you turn it around, and oh—that’s Chib.”

“Then you’ve got Mickey Mouse, he looks a little grumpy, but you can still tell it’s Mickey. But according to them, he’s ‘Miikey.’ Then you’ve got his friend Minnie, she looks like – Oh, no, this is ‘Mimnee,’” he said.

The spelling of the characters’ names wasn’t even close in the last two pairs.

Donald Duck was renamed “Tonaid” and Winnie the Pooh’s little friend Piglet was miraculously changed to “Bigeet”.

“This is why you should never order products from Temu,” John said in the video, which received more than 14 million views over four days.

Social media users seemed to get as big of a kick out of their socks as the Fernstroms.

“This is exactly why you order from Temu. I once bought Pepsi socks and they came saying ‘peepee’. They are my favourites,” one user commented.

Another said they were suddenly feeling “the need to buy these exact socks from Temu.”

However, the company has apparently gotten cold feet on the socks, with a spokesperson telling The Mirror that they have been pulled from its website to avoid any legal repercussions from Disney.

Temu “prioritises the protection of intellectual property (IP)” and regularly removes listings that appear to imitate other brands, the spokesperson said.

“When we receive reports of violations, we immediately investigate each case and take decisive action, which may include removing product listings and images, or even terminating seller accounts for serious violations,” the company added.

Shares in Temu’s parent PDD Holdings fell nearly 30% in August. 26 after the company warned that its revenue is likely to continue to fall amid increasing competition in the fast fashion sector.

PDD co-founder Lei Chen pointed out that the company’s current growth was not sustainable as it battles competitors that included Shein, ByteDance’s TikTok and Alibaba for budget-conscious shoppers.

“High revenue growth is not sustainable and a downward trend in profitability is inevitable,” Chen said.

Temu is facing increased scrutiny from the European Union, which is working to close an import tax loophole that allows companies like Temu and Shein to ship light goods bought online at a low cost.
